Smelling Like Success
When you get ready to begin the day, there is a standard routine to prepare your appearance: Take a shower, pick out your outfit, do your hair, and if you are a woman you typically put on your make-up. How we smell is just as important as how we look, so when we look at different fragrances we want to have the best quality there is.
Whether it be to attract people to us, whether it be for networking, finding potential partners, impressing relatives, etc. However, we have so many different brands and one of the most popular and recognizable perfume brand is Tom Ford.
With his most recognizable scents being his Tuscan Leather and Ombre Leather. But, this poses a question, with both perfumes, what are the key differences between Tuscan and Ombre? How do they compare to one another? And which one is best suited for yourself?
While the two bottles may have similar designs, they do have key differences that are important to note when looking for these perfumes.
Tuscan Leather perfume has a chocolate like color shade to it that is complemented by the golden label with its name on it. Physically, Tuscan Leather appears to be modeled after a chess piece which gives it a slender look when compared to its counterpart, Ombre Leather.
With Tom Ford’s Ombre Leather you can expect an all black and mysteriousness to the bottle. Its sleek design is how it is capable of getting away with having its name imprinted on the bottle as a label would just offend the look. It has a petite look that complements the color and the scent which we will go further in depth to understand.
The Scent of it All
With both perfumes having the leather in them, we are bound to see some similarities in their scent profile in that they both have a warm spice and are considered unisex perfumes but, those scents can be versatile in their own ways.
Ombre Leather has a woody spice to it that adds a touch of warm amber and dry moss on top of earthy, spicy patchouli. Mix that all in with notes of jasmine and leather and it feels like you are walking through a flower bed on the beaches of Thailand.
With a Tuscan Leather, you have an intrinsic leather with hints of dark suede and twilight jasmine. Picture it like you are taking a walk outside your cabin looking at the mountains next to your campfire. Both perfumes sound amazing by imagining those images but, then we have to ask what is the performance of these perfumes?
Performance
Different perfumes will last for different amounts of time and both leathers are no different from this. Tuscan Leather lasts typically for 8-10 hours which is a much shorter time lapse when compared to Ombre Leather which can last up to 24 hours.
It is important to remember to let the perfume sit and not rub in the scent like the traditional way that most fragrances are used. If you need Tuscan Leather or Ombre Leather to last longer than intended it is best to apply the creases of your knees or elbows depending on where you are comfortable.
If you prefer the conventional way of spraying perfume on your wrists, it would be best to remember to spray perfume every few hours to help maintain the scent throughout the day. Finally, always remember to replace your perfume after 12 months as the smell begins to lose the power of the original scent.
A Certain Degree of Sophistication
What is important to remember when it comes to perfume is knowing when and what occasions to wear them to. Both are unisex, allowing anyone to enjoy wearing these scents. Because of the woody and leather quality of both perfumes you can wear them in the Autumn and Winter months.
The key notes of wood, leather, and jasmine can fit it for any occasion whether you are dressing up or dressing down, it all just depends on what you prefer that day or night.
A key difference is that Tuscan Leather has more of a masculine quality compared to Ombre Leather so know how you want to set the mood for the occasion that you are wearing it to. The great thing about perfume is that we get to form a bond with these scents from memories we create that help us know when it’s the right time to put it on.
Laws of Attraction
It is no surprise that the way we smell can attract people to us and can have an impact on how we interact with our environment. Because of the versatile nature of the perfumes, they can be appreciated by all by having a universal scent that complements both a man and a woman.
With Tuscan Leather due to its warm and woody quality, it would be great for everyday gatherings or networking events to show that you are sensual yet sophisticated.
Ombre Leather is for when you desire a little extra attention with its hidden spice that gives it more of a flirtatious vibe best suited for dates or impressing a special someone that you have had your eye on for sometime.
A Little Something Different
Obviously we have been talking about the many ways that these fragrances are different and similar but, now we can cover what makes them unique from the majority of perfumes.
Aside from the fact that both Tuscan Leather and Ombre Leather are part of the latest trend of unisex perfumes, both fragrances offer a eccentric after scent that is similar to that of an after taste when we eat a meal.
With Tuscan Leather, it begins with a strong aroma of leather and suede that fades into a flowery jasmine. When it comes to Ombre Leather the initial leather scent begins to fade into a warm, flower-like beach aroma from the amber and moss.
Priceless
The price of both varies but, you will pay a pretty penny for any Tom Ford perfumes of this high quality. Tuscan Leather comes in five different sizes while Ombre Leather has about three sizes.
Tuscan Leather’s smallest size being 10 ML is available in select stores, it will cost upward of about $70 and is the perfect travel size perfume to have when you are on the go. The next one would be 30 ML which is perfect for those who enjoy the scent and are just getting started being acquainted with this scent with a cost of $175.
The second largest would be 50 ML that would cost around $285 and can last you for months if used everyday. The 100 ML has the look of what is a traditional perfume bottle and also costs around $390. To get the biggest one you can get a 250 ML that would last you up to a year and require payment of $800 without tax or fees included.
It should be noted that the 250 ML is an exclusive size that is only offered on the official Tom Ford website if you may be interested in that bottle. With Ombre Leather you also have a small travel sized 10 ML spray that has a price tag of $50. The next standard 50 ML bottle is great for everyday life and will cost around $150. The final and largest bottle of Ombre leather offered would be the 100 ML that can cost you $210 before taxes are applied.
Which to Choose?
Now that we have covered every aspect of both Tom Ford’s Tuscan Leather and Ombre Leather perfume we can pose the question, which one is best for you?
That can very much depend on the kind of person you are and how often you enjoy wearing perfume. If you are very new to Tom Ford and hi Leather Collection in general, it may be best to try a travel size bottle so that you are not making a huge commitment that you are not sure of and you can avoid spending hundreds of dollars before you are ready.
When it comes to the overall aroma of the leather collection, you have to sit back and think about what is a scent that you wouldn’t mind smelling throughout the day? Yes, we all love the smell of our grandmother’s good old fashioned cooking but, we don’t want to smell like that all day.
Tuscan Leather manages to have a strong scent of leather when compared to Ombre Leather that has more of a sweet spice to it. If you like to make a strong presence in the room my personal recommendation would beTuscan Leather.
If you prefer more of a subtle but attention grabbing scent the best bet would be Ombre Leather. But, my best advice would be to take some time and figure yourself out in terms of style and presentation and then experiment with the leather fragrance that would complement who you are and add to your character.
