Inspiration: Acqua di Parma’s Colonia did not start out as a wearable perfume in 1916. It began as a way for men to scent their handkerchiefs to wipe sweat from their faces and get a refreshing feeling while doing it. The quintessential Italian barbershop fragrance quickly grew into a popular scent for celebrities in the early 1900s.
Colonia is bursting with fresh citrus inspiration taken from Italy itself. Tangy Sicilian lemon and sparkling Calabrian bergamot with sweet orange create a vividly refreshing citrus mélange. In the heart of the fragrance, powdery lavender creates a shaving cream feel while rosemary adds some warm herbal qualities to the blend. Dry sandalwood and Haitian vetiver sit at the base to add contrast from the refreshing citruses and clean lavender.
It’s easy to see why Colonia took off as it did and how it became the Italian barbershop scent that all others are judged upon. It’s full of a zest for life while also being classy at the same time. It is a combination that almost everyone can love or appreciate.
